Clinics and Seminars
Weekend Driving Clinic
Have you always wanted to learn how to hitch and drive
horses?
Have you admired the beauty, strength and versatility of the Norwegian Fjord Horse?
Then you should not miss the hands-on, Basic Hitching and Driving Educational Seminar to be held at Blue Heron Farm, Charlemont, Massachusetts. This three-day event will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, August 12 and continue to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 14, and will be taught by Pat Wolfe, a well-known Fjord horse breeder, trainer, Certified Evaluator and judge from Ontario, Canada.
Participants will learn the basics of harness and vehicle types and basic skills needed for both draft and pleasure driving. Everyone will have the opportunity to learn how to skid a log, drive a single and drive a pair using Fjords that we will provide.
Due to the hands-on nature of the event, class size will be limited to 12 persons. Since each day will build on the previous, cost for all three days will be $300, including morning and afternoon refreshments and a box lunch. Auditing is possible for $60 per day, including refreshments and lunch, but, once again, for maximum benefit, all three days are suggested.
Pre-registration is required and available slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For questions or information on available on-site lodging, please visit our web site for rates and to check availability (www.blueheronfarm.com). You can also contact Bill or Norma Coli by phone (413-339-4045) or email info@blueheronfarm.com.

2011 NFHR ANNUAL MEETING AND EDUCATIONAL FORUM
This year Fjord owners from around the country will gather in Murfreesboro, TN (just outside Nashville) for our Annual Meeting and Educational Forum. The event will be held at the Tennessee Livestock Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. This is a large, climate controlled facility which will enable our speakers and clinicians to use real, live horses in their presentations. The Forum will take place, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, January 28-30, 2011. The NFHR Annual Meeting will also be held Sunday morning, giving members the opportunity to meet the Officers and Board of Directors for the coming year.
Some of the experts that will be speaking are: a representative from the American Driving Society, a massage therapist teaching a session on how to give your own horse a massage (this session will include audience participation), a corrective farrier, an equine Chiropractor, a Centered Riding instructor, a representative from Saddle Up (a large NAHRA facility in Nashville), Wayne Hipsley who has more to teach us about Fjords than anyone, Beth Beymer doing demonstrations with her highly talented horses, and many more. While this is not a horse show, we will have several Fjords on the grounds for the clinicians to use in their talks.
The Education Forum is open to members and non-members. Registration for 1 day is $60 and 2 days is $100 for members; registration for 1 day is $75 and for 2 days is $130 for non-members. Please click on this link for a registration form and registration policies.
Two additional events will be part of this year's weekend
· Friday evening there will be an optional excursion into Nashville to soak up the nightlife. ($25 per person)
· Saturday evening we will hold a banquet celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the NFHR, the retirement of Mike May and honoring the long service of Roger Cabic. ($35 dinner, $5 wine (2 glasses)
Don't miss out on the experience of the Education Forum. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
